How to get there and where to stay
If you fly into Bilbao Airport you can get a bus, operated by PESA, from outside the airport terminal which takes around 1 hour 15 minutes to reach the bus terminal in San Sebastian (also called Donostia). You can also fly into Biarritz in France which has a bus service, operated by BlaBlaCar, between the airport and San Sebastian which takes around 1 hour 30 minutes.
San Sebastian is a fairly compact city so there are many options for your accommodation. Casco Viejo (old town) is a great area to stay as it's close to the beach and will give easy access to best sites this wonderful city has to offer.

Getting to the Reale Arena
Walking to the stadium takes around 40 minutes from Plaza de la Constitucion in the centre of old town. Alternatively, Bus 26 (operated by d.bus) runs regularly from Boulevard 13 in old town to Madrid 19 close to the stadium and takes around 20 minutes.
A major renovation of the stadium was completed in 2019, removing the athletics track and increasing capacity to 39,500.
Where to go before a Real Sociedad match
Casco Viejo, with its many small and lively bars provides a great atmosphere and good, ready made food (pintxos) in just about all of them. If you don't fancy the walk after a few drinks, Bars Sacha and Txirrita in the neighbourhood of Amara are a 5 minute walk to the stadium.
Not to miss while you're in San Sebastian
La Concha Beach - If you're lucky enough to get a sunny day on the beach, you'd struggle to find a more picturesque location in the world.
Casco Viejo (old town) - Narrow atmospheric streets and small squares provide a great atmosphere with plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and ice cream parlours to keep you entertained.
Funicular - Wonderful journey taking you to the top of Monte Igueldo with its old fashioned amusement park and breathtaking views of the beach and city.
Food Heaven - There are 11 Michelin-Starred restaurants in San Sebastian. Akelarre, Arzak and Martín Berasategui all have 3 Michelin Stars each .
