Espanyol

The 'second team' in Barcelona is an attractive proposition, playing at the 40,000 capacity RCDE Stadium. There are a number of advantages to visiting the smaller Barcelona club such as cheaper tickets, a better view in a more modern stadium and, arguably, a better atmosphere.
Where to stay

Espanyol are based in Cornellà de Llobregat, around 6 miles from the city centre. There's a large shopping centre next to the stadium but not a lot else so we would recommend staying in central Barcelona and travelling to the game on match day.

How to get to the RCDE stadium

The closest metro station is Cornellà Centre, the last stop on Line 5 which is a 15 minute walk to the stadium.

Lines R1 and R4 on commuter rail link Rodalies de Catalunya (operated by Renfe) run regularly from Plaça Catalunya to Cornellà and takes around 20 minutes.

There is also a regular bus service to Cornella, Bus 67 from Plaça Catalunya and Bus 68 from Provença-Casanova take around an hour.

Tram lines T1 and T2 stop in Cornellà and run from Plaça de Francesc Macià which takes 45 - 50 minutes, a standard metro tickets can be used for the tram.

Where to go before an Espanyol match

The stadium is in an industrial area so there isn't too much close by but there are good small bars and restaurants in Cornellà such as Cana + Tapa or Bar Cul de Sac.

Perhaps a better option would mean staying in the city centre and using one of the transport options above to travel to the game. Around Plaça Catalunya and La Ramblas there are a number of great bars such as La Taverna de Barcelona, Belushi's, Kælderkold Craft Beer Bar and El Bosc de les Fades.
