Elche
Famed for its exotic palm forests, Elche belongs to the province of Alicante and is a popular destination to see the exquisite UNESCO World Heritage site Palmeral Palm Grove. The club play at Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero which holds over 33,000 supporters.
Where to stay
You may travel from Alicante which takes just under half an hour by train, the Cercanías Line C1 runs every hour from Alicante station to Elche/Elx Park.
In Elche itself the Palmeral Palm Grove is by far the most popular attraction and reasonably central so positioning yourself close by will give you a good base to explore the city.

How to get to Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero
The stadium is around 2 miles from the Elx Park train station which is next to Palmeral Palm Grove and should take around take around 40 minutes to walk.
Where to go before an Elche match
Winners bar is right on the doorstep to the stadium, just off a residential square lined with palm trees and provides a great atmosphere before and after the match.
Closer to the city centre, side-by-side Irish bars Flaherty's and St Patrick's offer large outdoor seating areas on a lovely square.

Palmeral de Elche - Stunning park with an estimated 70,000 palm trees providing a great walk, views and a quiet escape.
Basilica of Santa Maria - Great views if you dare to climb the bell tower.
Jardin Huerto del Cura (The Priests Garden) - A beautiful oasis with tropical plants, ponds, fish, bird life and, of course, palm trees!
